Disappointing Disappointing

by Timothy W on January 30, 2017

Verkatt Heritage was recommended by our travel agent, arrived at around 17 30 after 9 hour drive. Arrived to be told no food available that night but Roy could recommend a restaurant. Whole place dark and dreary and in need of some painting, beds as hard as anything, noisy outside and no place for our driver to park or stay. When they say they have a restaurant it is only a dining table in a part of the cluttered house. It might be referred to as quaint but frankly not somewhere we wanted to stay, after having been told we had been booked two suite rooms, we were given a small double and a twin with two very small single beds with mattresses as hard as anything would have been like sleeping on the floor, even our driver thought it was not a great place especially for what it costs. We all looked at each other and decided this was not somewhere we wanted to stay and decided we would go elsewhere. It might have been good value at half the price but not for what they are charging, which similar to the Hilton which offers much better accommodation and range of services. I would recommend anyone to think twice about this place unless they get a great deal!

Stuck in the last century Stuck in the last century

Booked two rooms,4 of us, 2 suites. Arrived late afternoon. Accommodation at a busy road junction, behind an iron gate, very noisy. Told no food today. Rooms only double rooms. Decor from the middle of last century. Beds as hard as nails. Everywhere in need of a make over. We have been travelling in India for two months. This was the shabbiest offer and at such a price! We did not have our rose tinted glasses on. We have learnt another lesson about reading reviews and reading between the lines. Decided not to stay and booked into hotel opposite and had a wonderful two days in the city.

Enchanting! Enchanting!

It's a rare opportunity to stay in a beautiful heritage home, one that is impeccably maintained with all the original furniture beautifully maintained. Breakfast is delicious and wholesome, and usually comes with a history of the beautiful home from the charming owner himself. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, very well priced for everything you get. This is an incredible place to stay, made warm and hospitable by the owner's personal attention. Highly recommend it.

Heritage stay lacking any charm or character Heritage stay lacking any charm or character

by anitam530 on January 10, 2016

We arrived very late at night and Roy the host was very accommodating with our late arrival. Unfortunately the rooms were not worth anywhere near the 5000 and 6000 rupees that we were charged. They were very very basic, lacked any heritage character at all. We had 3 double rooms and only 1 bottle of water per double was provided. We were charged for a second bottle of water. We had to check out early the next morning to catch a train. We asked that our taxi driver with whom we caught our taxi from the airport pick us up in the morning. Roy completely disregarded our request and arranged his own taxi driver and then charged us 700 rps to get us to the train station - this is a 5 minute cab ride and we paid 500 rps the night before to get from the airport to the guesthouse. On a positive note, the rooms are clean, but the guest house is not worth anywhere near the money that Roy is charging. This is a 2000 rps / double / night guesthouse - very disappointed, don't waste your money staying here.

A wonderful place to stay A wonderful place to stay

This place is much cosier and quirkier than it sounds in its Trip Advisor description! The rooms are cool and tasteful - we had our best night's sleep in India in them. The interior of the home is filled with antiques, all with a different story. The garden around the house provides a tranquil setting despite being in a great location in the middle of town. We had lunch here on our arrival which was traditional Indian and very tasty. It's also very personal as the host of the house sits with you. The Col. made a point of sharing the wonderful story of the house with us which made us feel like we were staying somewhere with real character and history. All the staff were helpful and charming, happy to give advice or sort out transport. We would certainly return and really enjoyed our stay.

Demo Trip Bad rooms and the rooms on the left side leak and the loft is home to many rats. Photos coming soon!!!

by Georget20blr on May 9, 2012

Demo Trip Well, the owner thinks a room can be flexibly called a suite, so be careful and ready to pay extra if you want a real suite. Also, one of the two suite has no window at all(!)
