This is a disaster hotel. Dirty rooms, no proper ventilation, no phone, no room service, no maintenance. The extra bed for which they charge around Rs 400 is of lowest quality and you won't get sleep because of the bed bugs. You will have a terrible feeling of getting diseased if you stay in this hotel as you will be surrounded by bed bugs and mosquitoes.
Centrally located / close to Railway Station and Bus stand.
Maintenance of the room can be improved further.
Hot water facility should be available throughout the day without depending on the solar power.
Since my trip was mainly a pilgrimage oriented it was a short stay.
Arrangement made by the lodge authorities for visiting Divya Desam Temples
was very good. Staff were courteous , well mannered and service oriented.
We booked this room while visiting Chengannur with family on a temple trip.
We had chosen this hotel looking at the 2-3 reviews here, and given that this was the only 'reviewed' Chengannur hotel on Trip Advisor. But it was a huge shock, and by far the worst hotel we've ever checked into in India.
Dirty rooms, dark, no ventilation, no phone, no lift, no room service and everything looks like was built in the medieval era with no maintenance thereafter. The bed cushion was full of bumps, bedsheets were black (literally, though the original colour was white), and there were ants.
We checked out of the hotel after a day, and moved into another better hotel 'Raj International' nearby.
So to anyone planning to visit this town, never choose this hotel, there are couple of better hotel options available (we took a stroll and checked out these other hotels - Raj International, Bhagwath Gardens, Relax Inn).
You are probably coming to chengannur as a part of the Divya Desam tour. Good.
Pros : no nonsense hotel. slightly expensive for this place, but not much of a choice. central location to all the other regional temples.right on the main road that has a bus stop outside the hotel. peaceful at night. Clean room and spacious also. gave extra beds as we were a 5 member family and all got accomodated in a single room. Ac was working actually.. there is a veg(only) restaurant very close by. come out, take left and another left after about ~ 100mts. they provide bottled water also.
Cons : nothing much if you do not expect much. The rooms as is the custom in these regions will have sticker bindi stuck on the walls / mirrors / doors etc. thanks to visitors like us..
Since we were visiting important temples in the vicinity, we were looking for a reasonably good hotel where we could spend a night. As the family consisting of elderly people were to visit temples, we wanted a hotel without a bar etc. and I was told that this was the only such hotel. Moreover, as it is so close to the railway station and in the heart of this town, we chose this hotel for an overnight stay. The staff were very helpful in giving us directions and suggestions and how and when we should visit the various temples. However, the deluxe room given to us was pretty cramped, with not much space for movement, the double bed virtually occupying the whole room. A very average hotel - choose this if you don't have a choice.
