Makiko from Udaipur, India recommends this hotel Posted:  Room Quality: 4/5 Service Quality: 3/5 Dining Quality: 3/5 Cleanliness: 4/5

At the first time we reached at the hotel, taxi driver took us the different reception desk, and there is no person there. I'm not sure why, but we had a bad feeling. As there is little tourist in Udaipur this August, we didn't enjoy a lot. Anyway this hotel room is clean, but honestly it is not nice than I expected through some photo.

A great experience A great experience

Our room overlooked the Lake with the lovely Lake Palace shimmering in the twilight as we sipped a wine sitting on the alcove window. The restaurant was an open air restaurant some way away and up a steep slope we took a handy golf cart provided by the hotel, The first morning was cold (7*C)and so we had to be wrapped up while having breakfast. The hotel provided service also. All in all a lovely experience.

The view is magnificent but that's it. The view is magnificent but that's it.

The view is just magic. The palace from the outside gives you such a marvelous welcoming. But that's pretty much it. And for what you are paying of course you would have expected more. The rooms are so tiny and shabby..where is the magic?!. Such a disappointment. The bathrooms as well. Breakfast buffet was poor with no options availabe for people with food allergy problems. ( in a place like this you expect to have everything and beyond some almond milk and some ricecakes glutenfree ). Dinner was really good though..the manager during dinner was very helpful with my intolerances and also my family agreed that actually breakfast and dinner in the same place must have been cooked by someone different! No frozen super hard pastries!!! Did I like this place? Yes...you are in a beautiful palace enchanted by the lake...but is too pricey for what you are getting. I mean if you want to consider yourself a luxury hotel you must keep some standards levels up...and present some better rooms to begin with.

It's ok - bit of a let down It's ok - bit of a let down

Stayed here two nights with family and friends. No trouble with our reservations and front desk very pleasant. Public areas very interesting with lots of historic family photographs and decorations. The rooms were no more than ok however - by no means luxurious for sure. Room size was ok and the one small window - located very low - did have a great view of the lake. Everything was a bit shoddy and slightly threadbare. Towels very industrial. Room was however clean. They shouldn't bother with the complementary chocolates by the way - virtually inedible. The restaurant is a short walk away or you can take a golf cart if you really feel you need to. The view from there is great. Service is ok and the food satisfactory. There is no question the location of the hotel is excellent. All in all had been promoted as a fantastic stay in the opulent maharaja's palace .... I probably would have been less disappointed if I hadn't been led to expect so much more.

Oh No Fateh Oh No Fateh

It's setting is fantastic ... the rest does not measure up to the supposed Royal treatment one gets from across the lake at the amazing @Taj Lake Palace ! I was lucky to spend a night at the Taj Lake Palace two years ago ... and unfortunately for any other hotel the expectations are set ! You enter the Royal gates and u get excited ... all the checks a bit tedious gates should have guest records up front so that instead of the same question asked 3 times the drive in will be less clumsy ! We got in early ! Our check in was for 2pm but thought perhaps they may offer us a room . The guy who handled us had no idea of luxury service infact it's safe to say other than the charming garland ceremony which is soooooo common in Rajasthan everything else on this splendid property is so average and the Ibis Hotel chain could teach these really uninterested staff a thing or two ... we were refused wifi while waiting for the room .... the refusal made me already made me get a bit agitated ! We paid 285 Euros a head !!! Now any where in the for this amount you get - clean rooms -clean rooms - did I say clean rooms ! The staff were thrilled to offer us two rooms that had a lake view - the view by the way beautiful .... coming back to the rooms.... well for what we were paying they were awful We found sound unpleasant stains on the bed and was "UPGRADED" to a better room ... Well Mr General Manager all your rooms should look like the upgrade or as clean ! Our total stay for very little was just too expensive We got the bill in the morning and assumed that the Deputy Manager offered us dinner on the house ! As he said "what are your dinner plans ...should we reserve u a table on the terrace... " to which we said no we will eat in .... well there was no free dinner ! Not that we expected anything ! The attitude of the day manager was ... we upgraded u ... which for me sounded like ... Be Grateful Sorry HRH Group Of Hotels I love your palace but u need to learn more about service rather than apologies! Travellers if u want luxury this is not the trip u want ! There loads more around the lake ... unless this group shapes up ! Ps the Terrence breakfast is not good !

Royal! Royal!

The hotel is situated in a prime location with beautiful views of Lake Pichola. We stayed in a grand suite which featured a living room, large dressing room and an even bigger bathroom. Extremely spacious and clean. The breakfast served was great as there was a large variety. I couldn't fault this hotel!
