A wow of a location and on initial arrival a fabulous designed hotel! Should you sit? Service wasn't always the best or speedy and whilst a gratitude free location, staff hovered for tips and took payment which was disappointing. Requested early morning breakfast pack which came in two large cake boxes - disappointment on opening on our 6 hour train journey there wasn't any water or juice - it's the small things! Bath had black grease marks and was bouncy. Not always hot water. Fruit provided was just a few greenish oranges and not changed Heart shaped biscuits left on a plate in the room which was a nice touch. Sadly uncovered and no date as to when they were placed there or if in fact they were for eating or design. Staff couldn't or wouldn't divide restaurant bills between two rooms.

There is probably no better view of Udaipur, the lake, the hills, than from this hotel. Coming down to breakfast beside the horizon pool is a "WOW". But the food is mediocre, most of it I suspect microwaved frozen food rather than fresh. Overnuked roll was a hockey puck, muffins with freezer taste, mains were really not good at all. Breakfast was passable but lacked the variety of many of the other hotels we stayed in. The building is made of marble so everything echoes. The rooms are very large but spartan, and need some rugs for sound deadening, you can hear from one washroom to the other, drains gurgle, and there is a faint smell of mildew in the bathrooms. Wifi did not work in the rooms and there are not enough outlets to plug in the electronics. This hotel could be 5 star if it had a make over. As it is, unless you want the view, check the reviews of other hotels carefully. This may be the best there is in Udaipur other than the Oberoi. But I would have to doubt it. We were disappointed.

We booked a 4 night stay at this hotel as a relaxing way to end our holiday touring Rajasthan, unfortunately it was anything but. Our room was "upgraded", and on first appearances it looked nice, with good views over the local farmland. On closer inspection the cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired, and to cap it all, there was a horrendous noise coming from below. When I asked the Manager to come to the room, and asked what it was, he said it was the bakery below. There was banging, shouting, and machine noise almost constantly. We were moved to another room for one night, and then back to the same corner, (just one floor up), for the remaining 3 nights. The noise was still there, just slightly dimmer. Added to this there were lots of preparations going on for an upcoming wedding, including cutting paving slabs next to the pool area all day long, which made relaxing there impossible. For our last two nights the hotel was almost fully booked out for the wedding party, so we really felt like we were intruders. This really spoilt our stay. This hotel aspires to be a luxury heritage hotel, but I'm afraid it falls a long way short. It is just 8 years old, so not heritage, and as for luxury, I don't think so. The only redeeming feature were the serving staff at breakfast, who were very pleasant. All in all, a very disappointing stay, and a poor end to what had been a fantastic holiday up to that point. In hindsight I would much rather have stayed in downtown Udaipur.

The hotel is located on top of a hill with 360 degree panormic view of Udaipur City along with the two lakes towards East and lush green valley all around. Rooms are of good size and aesthically decorated. The room and bathrooms have full size windows with a grand view. We really enjoyed morning tea and evening meals on the front terrace.Food preperations were excelent with ever smiling staff. It was a pleasent and memorable stay for us. Padam

The hotel is well laid out on multiple layers of a hill. The rooms are excellent and the open areas with 2 swimming pools at two levels adds to the charm of the place. The service & response of the staff too is excellent. The view from this hotel is really fascinating as you can see Pichola Lake with the Udaipur Palace in the background at a distance. Very nice and soothing hotel to stay for a pleasurable vacation.
