I enjoyed staying at Kesar Palace. It's located in the old town beside the lake where there is many interesting tourist attraction. The hotel is very good, clean, safe and affordable. Rooms are comfortable and oriental. The owner is friendly and the rooftop view is breathtaking.
We visited Hotel kesar palace on new year. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The one we got was quite large with clean sheets and blanket. The hotel also has hit water supply. The best part is its location and you can have a mesmerizing view of lake pichola and nearby places from hotel's rooftop restaurent. Most of the tourist attractions are at wakable distance and due to its orime location, you can get taxi for other places conviniently. The owners were friendly and we had some awesome food in roof top restaurent. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone on a budget.
The owner is very nice and the rooftop view is outstanding. My room was clean and the facilities were perfectly decent. Although I travelled alone I would recommend this place for all the different kinds of travellers. My advice is to book room 501 for the best view, even though it costs slightly more.
Depending on whether you want a big room with a great view, or a slightly smaller room to fit your budget, there is still a wonderful view for all, from the top floor roof top restaurant.
Santosh is a friendly and helpful host/manager, as are all his staff. They have a good fast laundry service. Towels and blankets are easily obtained by asking someone, usually they're on the top floor.
Location is at the heart of the old city, very close to Lake Pichola, with shops, cafes and restaurants all close by.
Hopefully the shower will be fixed in 401 before the next guest uses it. Best room is 501, but you'll pay a little more, because of that.
First off, for a guest house, the food is top notch. In fact it was the best Indian food we had around Lake Pichola. Everything is made fresh so expect to wait for the food, but it is worth it. The dal and biriyani were some of the best we've had. The chicken curry is also excellent.
We booked a room in advance through Santosh, one of the two owners. The next morning we explained to him how we were planning on staying in Udaipur for at least a couple weeks, and he gave us a better room at a better rate. Santosh proved to be extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. He was eager to help while simultaneously respecting our privacy. We sent out a few blankets and sweaters to be washed by a third party and our bill came back abnormally high. He looked at what we washed, told us what the price should be, and went to the third party in person to argue the bill. He is absolutely fair in his own prices. We have also met many local people who know Santosh and all speak highly of his character.
The guest house itself is tucked away down a narrow alley and has five floors of rooms. Essentially, you can have a room in the front of the guest house with more windows, or a room in the back of the guest house. The higher up you are in floors, the better the lake view from the front rooms, and the warmer and brighter the rooms in the back. The best room is the 5th floor window room. I would recommend getting a room at least on the 3rd floor. The second floor window room is okay if you're okay with a darker room.
The rooms are all spacious and clean with marble floors and all the bathrooms have blazing hot showers. The water is heated by a wood furnace which burns during the mornings and evenings. Wifi is available as well. The guest house has a great central location and is very close to the lake, nice cafes, the footbridge, shops, and atms.
The restaurant is on the rooftop and above that is another smaller and higher rooftop which we practiced yoga on daily. It is, as stated in another review, one of the highest rooftops in the area.
If you're looking for a private room in a small budget friendly guest house with a friendly staff and good food, don't hesitate to try Kesar Palace.
