The hotel is very nice walking distance from the City palace of Udaipur , just initially i was scared of going into such small small lanes leading towards hotel but after staying there it became the best hotels in the whole rajasthan tour.

The location of the hotel is just awesome.. jst next to the Lake Pichola.. wat a view.. especially the early morning.. on the other side is the Jagdish temple... The location is just perfect for local shopping and roaming around.. City palace is also very close and conveyance to other places is also readily available... the only problem tht i realized was that they try to push a not so good room if u have a prior booking.. but if u insist they do have better room... Another big problem is of no ventilation in the room... But for the price we are paying.. it is full paisa wasool..

Excellent stay within your budget ! Excellent stay within your budget !

by Prajakta B on February 23, 2017

Hotel Udaigarh is located at a very prime location. But its located in a no vehicle zone which is very important. Your car cannot reach upto the hotel you have to park your car at the city palace parking and walk a bit to reach the hotel. But its a nice heritage hotel with excellent views of Lake Pichola. Food here is very delicious and also the service is flawless.

Relaxing hotel with a phantastic roof top restaurant and pool Relaxing hotel with a phantastic roof top restaurant and pool

by julia1976 on February 22, 2017

The pool on the roof terrace with a spectacular view of Lake Pichola is the perfect place to relax. The staff of the restaurant was super-attentive and the food served both there and in the pool area was very good. Rooms were nice and clean and the location is central as well. Communication with the reception was really difficult beause of their rather bad English. We asked about the prize for a transfer to the airport and were given a really high prize (750,00 Rupees - in the city we had seen offers for 400,00 - 500,00) so we politely declined. We're not sure if the receptionist understood us - he kept calling at odd times (midnight, again at 7 a.m. in the morning) to enquire when we would require the car. Too eager to get his commission? Or just a misunderstanding?

Amazing views from the rooftop Amazing views from the rooftop

by Pallavi A on February 19, 2017

One thing that you cannot miss about this hotel is the rooftop pool with its scenic views. The hotel is a 100 year old haveli that has been refurbished into a hotel but it maintains the essence of Rajasthani traditional architecture and interiors. It is a modest hotel with an entrance which takes you through dirty narrow lanes but once you are inside, the hotel is sqeaky clean and looks cozy and lovely. The view from the rooftop is breathtaking any time of the day and we also enjoyed a good swim at the well-kept although a little smaller pool. The breakfast is good enough. The rooms are decorated like an old haveli with a modern look and I particularly loved a small sitting area made like a stone window in a palace. The service is also good and if you are on a budget, this property is undoubtedly one of the best to check out at Udaipur.

Great Views Great Views

We had upgraded to a heritage room and I must admit I was initially a little disappointed, having stayed in other 3-star heritage hotels that had a bit more character, however there are some nice features-good wooden furniture, nice recessed window seat to enjoy the evening light, coloured glass windows. Our bed was two singles placed together with separate sheets/quilt on each and was pretty firm. The bathroom was reasonably modern but missing a bath mat and the shower which only has hot water at specified times or if you specifically request it, took a long time to warm up. We found it quite noisy being by the stairway but once the a/c was turned on at night didn't hear anything. However the main reason to stay here is the view- absolutely fabulous and even better at night! Dining is on the rooftop so you can watch the lights twinkling on the water or in the daytime watch all the boats passing by. Just watch out for the monkeys which swung onto the balcony by our table one morning! Pool looked great and the hotel is very handy to shops, lake, palace-it was a nice change to be able to walk places unlike other cities we had stayed in.

Pearl of a Palace Pearl of a Palace

by Shawn C on February 5, 2017

Originally, I had intended to stay for two nights moving on to the lake region about five hours further east. However, I simply fell in love with the Lakeview, the amazing swimming pool, and the eclectic group of people that assemble there. Immediately, I knew there was no need to look any further; the vibes, the people, the staff, the food and the temperatures (with some scattered showers some days), was the last place I needed to be before returning to the bustling, chaotic, dirty, noisy Kolkata, to visit my niece. I added a few days on and, though they moved me to a non-lake view room, the price remained the same. Still, not much to complain about. By far, the highlight of my travels outside of Kolkata! A diamond in the rough, a pearl of a palace! I can't wait to return...
