I'm writing this review a year later but had to do it at some point of time!
I booked this budget hotel for 2 nights through cleartrip.com, was promised a lake view facing room!
But alas, what you book is not what you get!!
When I arrived at the hotel reception, a few hours before the check in time, I was asked to wait in the rooftop restaurant which had a nice view of the lake and a decent food menu.
On checking again with the reception guy, I was asked to wait for some more time and was then provided NOT with the promised lake view room, but a newly constructed, windowless dinghy room in a hotel adjoining to 'Panorama guest house'. I felt outright cheated since they also refused to refund my money (prepaid booking). It was a busy season, and I somehow managed to stay for a night in that claustrophobic room and moved out and stayed in a different hotel the second night! Would advice travelers to double check on what they are promised by these thugs!
I can't say anything bad about this hotel, but also nothing good to
emphasize. Clean enough, bathroom is too simple, linens are clean, but very old. Restaurant food made no issues with stomach, but it was not very delicious. Thus, you can spend one or two nights there, but you can find better hotel just for bit higher price
I stayed there for 3 nights. it was really enjoyable to stay at panorama guest house. the location is really great, everything is at walking distance like city palace and old real Udaipur market. we used to walk till amrai ghat in evening which is very near to the guest house. food and service was excellent. very well behaved staff. specially gokul ji at rooftop restaurant. so much at very decent(budget] rate. owners were also around who r really very helpful and soft spoken. I definitely recommend this hotel for families as it has great location, good food, excellent service, safe and really within budget of a middle class family. only onething I would like to suggest to managers of this hotel is to have a better taxiwala for the trips to kumbalgarh , haldighati etc. dr. satayendra singh , stayed from 4th to 07th jan. 2017
we were searching for a place over the busy NY weekend and landed upon this one. the staff is very helpful and the rooms are nice. ask for a room in the first floor or above . the rooftop restaurant is splendid and has an amazing view of lake picchola. we extended our stay by a night and were quite satisfied with the overall experience.
We stayed in Panorama Guest House for two nights.
The guest house is not directly on the lake, but still has great views from the rooftop and some of the rooms (including ours, #12). The location is excellent - very close to cafes, shops and the foot bridge to the other busier side of the lake.
The rooftop restaurant is pretty good, with reasonable prices, although many of the dishes we wanted were either unavailable or a one hour wait. They played Octopussy for us and set up a nice table so that we could eat dinner while we watched. Service was friendly, but a little pushy about tipping. Restaurant bills can be charged back to your room.
The room was fine but the bathroom looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in years and water leaked into the bedroom whenever someone had a shower. Hot water worked sporadically.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful - they arranged an airport transfer for us for a fair price.
Ultimately Panorama is a good budget option but it is what is is, and you can't expect it to be perfect considering the price. Also the turtles mentioned in the reviews are on holiday and won't be back for a few weeks.
