A friend and I stayed here for nearly four weeks and we were treated like it was our home. The owners and staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as wonderful as it was. The guesthouse is tucked away in a a small street five minutes walk from the City Palace, with superb views of Lake Pichola from the upper rooms and the rooftop restaurant. The rooms are large, bright, clean and airy. There is no AC, just a ceiling fan, which was sufficient at that time of year. The bed was comfortable with plenty of blankets. The bathroom was also large and clean with plenty of hot water. The view from the huge window was spectacular, so relaxing to just sit and look. The restaurant serves a good variety of food, the best butter toast I've had in India! There is an open terrace above the restaurant with a panoramic view of the lake, a perfect place to soak up the winter sunshine. All this for a budget price! It is not a luxury hotel, there were a few small inconveniences, but I will happily go back. I sincerely recommend Shiva Guest House.
