It's a pleasure writing about Udai Kothi while still staying here.
Today is our 5th & last day here & are very happy with the rooms & services rendered.
To begin with,
The Enterance of the hotel is superb & very Elegant. We will forget the Narrow lanes one passes through for accessing the property Once you reach here.
Stayed in room no 601,602,603. Hotel rooms are good & spacious with writing table also placed in a perfect corner.
Bathroom are very BIG with Fan & Huge Mirror, all of Marble even the Bath Tub.
Although we get a partial Lake View from Terrace, it feels Majestic once you are in the pool side at the terrace.
Food is Very Good, B/F spread is perfect with 2 Indian dishes, bakery items, Very Tasty & Juicy Fruits, canned juices , Smoothies etc..Being pure Veg , I am unable to write about Non veg Dishes.
Don't miss to have Cardamom Tea.
The chef Mr.Dilip & Joshsingh go out of the way to give all the taste buds.
Mr.Ghanshyam who takes care of roof top restaurant is quite knowledgeable
The staff is very courteous & soft spoken.
At reception Mr.Mushtaq & Mr.Vaseem helped us for detailed sightseeing points in the City.
Thanks to Team UdaiKothi.
After see description of the hotel in Trip Advisor and Booking.com, I reserve for 11 days the higher room of that hotel : the Udai Suite
Udai Suite seems wonderfull : private dining room, private inside swimming pool, private jacuzzi with a terrasse at the top of hotel
All the picture are beautifull
BUT, IN REALITY :
1 - swimming pool : water is cold => not possible to use
2 - jaccuzzi : if you want use it, you must call reception and wait the make it in function
3 - wifi : after 30 mn to try connection : sometimes work and sometimes doesn't work
4 - if you want take a shower, you must call reception for having hot water after 15 mn
5 - breakfast or dining in private dining room : meals arrive afer a certain moment :......COLD and take eggs cold at breakfast is not very, very, very fine
6 - bedroom : no thick curtains, so you are awake with the day at 5:30 : nice holidays !!!!!
7 - Not even a table to pt laptop or other
8 - a very small wardrobe to store
I pay for 11 days, but i leave that too very bad hotel after 2 days , and we go to the Leela
Of course, they don't have refund anything, and
And they dare to charge 32,000 at night => THIEVES
We travelled India for a month and stayed in everything from boat houses to hostels, guest houses and so on - Udai Kothi was our favourite!
VALUE FOR MONEY - absolutely superb and rivals the top hotels in Udaipur and the rest of India for service and decor at a fraction of the price.
ROOFTOP POOL - Whilst we had looked around at other hotels for something a little different, my girlfriend and I were sold on Udai Kothi's roof top pool - it's genuinely breath taking and a must see even if you're not staying here.
SERVICE - the staff went above and beyond what's expected (thanks Vinod) and were always on hand to arrange anything without being too pushy. We even received a cake at the end of our stay to say thanks for staying there, nice touches like that go a long way after months of back packing.
FOOD - food was excellent every night that we ate there and the roof top restaurant is truly very romantic, if a little pricey in comparison to the hotel pricing and the other restaurants in the area. Our breakfast was included and the chef making fresh pancakes, omelettes etc was kept busy by us, absolutely excellent.
LOCATION - the location was perfect, everything in Udaipur is generally quite close together but Udai Kothi is very central whilst maintaining a quiet atmosphere in and around the hotel despite its central location.
10/10 would stay again - took a month or so to write our review due to travelling - apologies!
Thanks again for making our stay so special,
L & C
We stayed there from 2nd to 5th Nov 2016. The location is nice, though the lane is very narrow. It was an ok stay but what spoiled it for me is that they didn't have a first aid kit with them at night because their housekeeping locks it and goes home at night. This is ridiculous. My daughter was unwell and I wanted an antacid. They had nothing and after making some noise they arranged a guy and a scooter for my husband to go to the chemist. This is just not done.
The other cons are:
1. Breakfast spread is just ok.
2. The wifi is bad.
3. For any query regarding sightseeing etc., the staff asks you to come to the reception, they don't answer on phone.
4. The rooms are dusty, your feet turn black.
1. The location. It is walkable distance from Bagore ki haveli and nearby market.
2. The seating near windows is nice.
3. They have a nice garden.
Due to the first aid kit incident I would not recommend this place. (BTW the scooter guy banged the scooter and my husband got hurt....)
Having booked a twin room my mother and I were initially very happy to hear we had been upgraded to a suite because of the travel company we had booked through. When I checked this also had twin beds we were told no. The reception staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. I asked to see the twin room they grudgingly offered and it was very poor.
Our choices therefore were, a reasonable suite - up 46 stairs with no elevator or a shoddy room with awful beds. Reception staff didn't care what we chose.
Poolside the furniture is falling apart and there's very little room for people. The beds are all tightly squashed together.
In short, the place looks stunning from the outside but lacks finesse. Definitely not worth the money and does not live up to the pictures.
An awful way to end our holiday of a lifetime!!!
