We stayed here for two nights and were initially impressed with the reception and the rooms which were clean but by the end we were pretty disappointed.
We didn't manage to have a hot shower the whole time, the breakfast was like warm at best, the view from our room was a brick wall, they never cleaned our room despite us asking three times. I cleaned it myself in the end and went down to get new towlst and a bin bag. They promised I would have it in five minutes, someone came up and one towel.
The WiFi was also down most of the time we were there despite it being the only place in India so far we've stayed that you need to pay.
Basically the organisation of everything really let it down to the point where we spent most of the time frustrated. Probably ok for a short one night stay.
For the whole time I was there, 2 nights and 3 days, the internet was down. Funny, walk 40 yards down the street and you get clear cell phone and internet.
They dont have a list of nearby restaurants, or cable channels, or maps.
Their food was mediocre.
Staff seemed worn out from handling breakdown issues.
The hotel is well located after coming off the overnight train, it is modern and laundry service was good. Having to pay per device for wifi is a bit much in 2019 ina developed, urban location.
Unfortunately I was given one of only two rooms in the hotel which faced inwards towards the lobby. I didn't feel comfortable opening the blinds at any time as people in the lobby could so easily see into my room. The biggest problem however was the noise, which felt as though it was amplified through the lobby into the room until well into the early morning. The noise from staff packing up the function room was also loud and very disruptive at late hours.
Anyone unlucky enough to be given either of these rooms is highly unlikely to enjoy their time, as the lack of sleep and privacy diminish greatly the experience of being in such a spiritual city.
We stayed at Hotel City Inn, Varanasi, for 2 days i.e. from 01-01-2019 to 03-01-2019. At the time of booking we had opted for a deluxe room with complimentary wi-fi, dinner and breakfast and paid accordingly in advance through Yatra.com. At the time of check-in, when asked about free wi-fi, the hotel said wi-fi was not free and we will have to shell out Rs. 100 per day to use it. When told that the booking voucher mentioned complimentary wi-fi, we were informed, almost as an afterthought, that since our room had been upgraded to a bigger room with a view, we could either forego the wi-fi or be shifted to an ordinary room without a view. Such cheap tactics! All this charade was carried out to extract Rs. 100 per day from us. Anyway, we did not opt for the wi-fi. By the way, the room had a view of a flyover being constructed right in front of the hotel with building material strewn all over. During dinner, although it was paid for, we were humiliated by not being served the dish of our choice and allowed only one dish each. On the second night we were made to wait for more than one hour before we were served. Not to mention that the food was sub par. The breakfast too was ordinary, although a few choices were there. During night time, a celebration going on loudly in the banquet hall downstairs did not stop even after midnight and we had to call the front desk to intervene. Well, it took quite a long time to calm the party guys down.
We would advise that complimentary dinner is a big con to extract more money out of people. One may go for the complimentary breakfast, but dinner is a strict no-no, if they serve such bland food and that too with restrictions. The rooms and bathrooms are OK but the linen surely needs improvement. Also since our visit was during winter, there is no heating system. Although the hotel is right opposite the railway station, the ongoing construction of the flyover makes is very difficult to cover the short distance with building material lying all over, big puddles of dirty water and danger of things falling from above. Overall, the hotel was a big disappointment and the behavior of the staff made it worse. There are plenty of good hotels in Cantt area near the railway station.
Nice hotel staff is very cool and understanding..nice place visit again.Rooms are near by the railway station but without noisy. India since one must accept her on her own terms in order to enjoy the...
