We stayed here for 4 nights recently and had a great time. The location is very near the ghats in the amazing old town. The manager was very friendly and helped us arrange a boat ride at dawn (rowboat, no stinky noisy polluting engine) so we didn't have to haggle with the pushy boatmen down at the riverside, and helped us arrange a taxi to the airport too. Great value for the money. Rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable.
My wife and I stayed in the hotel for almost a week, she got sick on the way to Varanasi and the hotel staff were kind and caring. Try the Ganga night boat, ask for one without engine (walk the Ghat during the day). Nice, quite place, great food at the restaurant.
Our party of five stayed here for three nights. The reason you stay at PG on Ganges is for the view and to be a little further down the river out of the hustle and bustle. My Father has a room that faced onto the Ganges and the view was spectacular. The rooms are very basic. The rooms and bathrooms were probably the dirtiest of all the places that we have stayed in India thus far (four weeks into our trip) but its not intolerable, just something to be aware of. When we checked in one of the rooms was filled with flying ants - but when we alerted management they swiftly moved rooms for us which was thoroughly appreciated. My Father thoroughly enjoyed his stay at PG on Ganges, but I was left wanting a little more what we had payed.
My 3rd stay in this hotel and i warmly recommend it. View on the Ganges river from the room is incredible. Very helpful and friendly staff. Manager and owner are greats.A/C and Wifi are a plus. Very next to the ghats. Choose it for a nice stay in Varanasi.
We really enjoyed our stay at the PG On Ganges Hotel. The room rates were reasonable and the view of the Ganges was incredible. The staff were very helpful in organising train tickets, boat rides and even day tours - again all of these were good value and reasonably priced. We had a great time joining Amit on tours and covered a lot of Varanasi. He was an excellent guide, spoke great English and was up for a good laugh too! Would highly recommend to other travellers who are either looking to, or don't mind, staying just outside the main strip. Access to the main ghat was easy - the walk is nice and the rickshaws are cheap. There are also some good restaurants around if you're looking for a good value feed.
