Golven Resort in Vengurla was where we spent our New Years. After much research & negotiation with the reservation team, we booked our stay for 3 nights at Golven. We were a group of 10 & had blocked 5 cottages. Compared to other places, this worked out to be quite a reasonable destination during the Peak Season (30th Dec to 2nd Jan). We paid around 4.5K per night per couple (room with breakfast). The whole resort is spread across a large area & can be divided in 5 distinct zones: 1) Reception & Spa, 2) Dining Area, 3) Cottages, 4) Garden & 5) Beach . There are 10 cottages which are arranged in 3 rows. Row 1 has 2 cottages which have panoramic views of the garden & beach, row 2 & 3 have 4 cottages each. The Row 2 & 3 cottages have partial views of the garden/beach & the cottages in the rows ahead do block the views. The cottages are tastefully designed & the layout is quite good. One enters through the porch area which has 2 cozy chairs for that relaxed morning cup of tea & lazy afternoons. French windows separate the porch & the rooms. The rooms have a double bed, air-conditioning (that worked really well), a dressing table & a bathroom. The room also has a tea-maker. However the size of the room is just about suitable for a couple. Incase one travels with kids, they might find it a bit cramped. The rooms are maintained very well, kept spotless clean & have basic amenities. No TV & other bells & whistles which aren't really required. They do have a wifi connection that they provide to all guests (one needs to shift to another hotspot while in the dining area/gardens). The Beach is just a 5min walk from the cottages & you walk through a large well-manicured garden to get to the beach. The garden also has a few cabanas, hammocks & some interesting photo places (very tastefully decorated). There is a conference/party area right at the end. The beach is absolutely pristine, unspoilt & the hotel has setup up beach beds & beach tents for guests as well. They provide beach towels in the room as well. The property is picturesque & is superbly maintained. The staff is outstanding; they always have a smile on their faces & are happy to serve guests at all times. While we had an awesome time at the resort we faced a few hiccups which if corrected will truly make this an Outstanding property: 1) The resort had organised a New Year's Party where there was an open invitation even to outsiders. While they ensured that guests aren't disturbed (since they used the party/conference area near the beach), they weren't able to manage service to resort guests & the kitchen was busy preparing for the buffet at the party. We were told that the room service / dinner menu will be the same as what is being served at the party. The options were very limited especially for vegetarians. Also the service took quite a bit of time & we were told to order well in advance. The no. of staff is limited & hence they weren't able to reach & serve everyone. 2) The resort doesn't have a dedicated ice-machine & limited refrigeration infrastructure. Also none of the rooms have a refrigerator. Given it gets pretty hot & dry in Vengurla, this is one big issue to be resolved. They eventually sourced ice (a very limited quantity everyday) from the market but that quality of ice was really bad. Thank go we carried an icebox where we used the ice to atleast cool the liquids. They also weren't OK to store liquids that we had carried in their refrigerators. 3) There are too many restrictions that we were told off upon check-in. The standard answer to anything was that this isn't allowed. None of these rules were shared while booking. 4) The kitchen too is very basic. While they have an elaborate menu kept in the rooms, most of the dishes weren't available. The menu was restricted to a few Indian & Chinese dishes (especially challenging for vegetarians who were consuming almost the same dishes everyday). 5) While the resort boasts of many activities, all of them are outsourced to vendors. One needs to given them a 24 hour notice for indulging in any small or big activity. Apart from these hiccups we would say our stay was absolutely brilliant. We had an amazing time & the location, beach, cottages were absolutely fantastic. We would definitely return for another trip. Since the resort is secluded, it best for a group booking.
HI, i visited this place in January 2017 it is amazing place with awesome view specially the beach i was alone at the beach its pvt beach it was incredible experience. the service and staff are very good the restaurant staff specially Mr. Swapnil very kind and caring. The cleanest and bluish beach i ever visited in India. i can watch dolphin from my room and we had camp fire at beach we got service at the beach till 2am and the food is amazing the only thing i can say is this resort will never disappoint you. A small suggestion for the resort - A swimming pool in front of cottages will make this place the best destination in Sindhudurg. Thanks for having me.
We were in for a pleasant after when we reached the resort. It has nice well maintained lawn spread right up to the beach. There are gazebos placed in the lawn that give fabulous view of the beach and vast expanse of sea ahead. Rooms are ok. Service is good. Food quality is good. The beach is clean and water is clear. A very good place to chill out if you have a group.
Location , Facility and outlook wise , no regrets. But the property is overpriced mainly due to its limited access and remoteness Best things are you and the ocean , no gaps in between . In the mornings or early eves you can go fishing if the fishermen please to take you with them . That s one of the deep sea experience but fully at your own risk. Now once you are back with the catch , try to get some for your hotel too , get your staff a bottle of chilled beer and pay him some tips and ask him /her to cook a portion for you.... Simply you wont think of leaving this place thereafter. Konkan Maharashtrians are bit conservative with their culture but are equally helpful until you poise as a nuisance to them, they are so close to Goa , but very unlike goans who are pretty indifferent and passive.
