It was my business trip to Chandigarh from Nepal. I loved staying at this hotel. Clean rooms, hygienic bathroom, safe place. Hotel staffs along with MD HAPPY SINGH are so cooperative. Would recommend to stay.

Very dirty, spare yourself the visit. Very dirty, spare yourself the visit.

Six of us spent one night at the Hotel Kingston while in Chandigarh for a friends wedding. The Hotel had been prearranged for us by the grooms family who I'm assuming were unaware of the condition of the hotel. Before I go into much detail, I'll let you know that I usually prefer to travel on a budget and predominantly stay in budget to midrange hotels, though I do my research first to try and ensure that I end up in clean and decent places. The Hotel Kingston is somewhere I would never in a million years send friends, family, or anyone else for that matter. Looking at the hotel's website right now, I'm not sure which room they have pictured on their homepage but it definitely isn't one of the three rooms we were given. The hotel isn't old but it's uncared for and it's dirty. The bed was covered in dark hairs that clearly weren't mine or my partners and it made me wonder just how many bodies had used those sheets since they were changed last. Both my partner and I thanked our lucky stars that we had bought silk sleeping liners with us! The floor looked like it hadn't been swept in a while either (let alone mopped) and there were more hairs on the floor along with ants nest poking out from the sideboards which now brings me to the bathroom. What a a shame I didn't think to take any photos for trip advisor. There was a bright green stripe of mold running from the roof to the ground on the corner that housed the shower, which consequently didn't even work. When I turned on the tap only one pinprick jet of water squirted out and I ended up showering in one of our friends' rooms. On top of that, the toilet seat was completely useless as it had broken free of the bowl meaning you either had to squat above the loo or delicately kiss the seat with your cheeks so as to not go skating off onto the floor. Cockroaches don't particularly bother me but one of my friends caught a roach so big that the complimentary glass was too narrow a circumference to place over it and instead she had to use the upturned rubbish bin to catch the 7cm long monster. I'm sure that when this hotel first opened it would have been rather nice, but unfortunately neglect and poor craftsmanship in the original build have seen the Hotel Kingston slip into disrepair. I shudder to think of what it will be like 1 year, 2, years, 5 years from me writing this review. One other point of note is that the location of the hotel is pretty far out of the main CBD area. It was chosen for us due to its proximity to the grooms family residence. Our group of six were originally set to spend a full week in this Hotel but we promptly moved out the very next day. As the accommodation was organised for us we also never found out how much the rooms cost so I'm unable to comment on price/value.

GOOD IMPRESSION GOOD IMPRESSION

The place is very small and the first impression about looks from outside may make you feel a little nervous. But the service, food, hospitality and willingness of the staff to make to you feel comfortable is exemplary. I stayed 3 nights on business trip and was served very well. Excellent fresh food is cooked and served hot, rooms though small are comfortable and bathroom is clean. Overall it is really value for money for low budget customers.
