Thanks to Travelguru for giving us the best offer out of the other travel sites that I searched. I stayed 2 nights in Junior Suite @ Fernhill and it was heavenly. Weather prediction was land slides and heavy rain, but God was kind enough for us to stop those for the 3 days we stayed in Ooty. The suite had a lovely lawn where children can roam around and play. Nice View to the Carrot Cardbens and few steps away from a fantastic valley view. Breakfast had everything in it and was quite tasty as well. Our Cab driver suggested to have food only in the resort as outside food is not that good for its price. Overall, our stay was pleasant, hotel and rooms were exceptional. I recently visited Ooty with my wife and 2 sons (one is 2 yrs and another one is 5 yrs old) and stayed at Fern Hill resort. It is really a great place to stay. After a long journey from Bangalore to Ooty we were just refreshed and amazed when we reached and seen the resort. Its location, cleanliness, service, food, view from room and cleanliness make this a class apart. I would definitely recommend this for superb Ooty stay.

Overall the stay in this hotel was pleasant - with excellent view of the nearby hills from the rooms. Also,the hotel is located at a very serene location with absolutely no noise pollution. Many of the rooms have attached balconies with requisite furniture to spend time quality time with family members. However, the hotel does not have any lift and very aged persons find it very difficult to climb the numerous stairs to the 1st floor. In the evenings, games etc are held which the family members liked very much. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking using the microwave. However, after dinner in the room (provided by room service--food quality is very good), the dishes etc which were used from the kitchen were not cleared by room service as it was the responsibility of house-keeping who were available only the next day. However, all of us agreed that if we visit Ooty again and then we would stay in the same hotel - this sums up our overall experience in this hotel.

The food was very good of the hotel as they used to serve different varieties of food every time. From the room you can see the view of the hill, it was fantastic. Staying at this hotel was a great experience.

This was a awesome trip that I had with my frnds for this new year 2017. Myself with my frnds went to a friend's house at Ooty to celebrate new year. The temperature was too cold and its below 12degree Celsius near his home. We went to church at midnight and attended the new year prayer. Next day we went to Sims park at coonoor, botanical garden. and sixth Mile lake. Had a lot of purchase and enjoyed a lot.

The property is newly constructed and fairly good although some of the rooms have no view at all and their windows/doors stare at walls at point blank range. After my stay was over I got a mail from Vikram Lalvani, Chief Customer Engagement Officer inviting my feedback. Knowing that Sterling does not ever care for feedback, I still wrote the following feedback, thinking that things might have changed (but they haven't). ---------------- Dear Mr Lalvani, Although we had such an unsatisfactory experience that I do not even want to think about this holiday but I am still taking time to give a feedback so that you can do something to improve things for future and for others. Some major issues are as follows. There are two numbers for reception; I suggest you try staying in the resort and dialling them to see the atrocious response. Most of the time you do not get a response --- just a constant ringing that goes on for ever and ever. I asked for a bottle opener at around 1855 hours and, despite about ten calls to In Room Dining (and later to reception as In Room dining stopped taking my calls), got the opener along with my dinner! And when asked about the delay, the guy who brought the dinner and the opener together seemed to convey the impression that I should be grateful he had brought it. While he was there to deliver the food, I dialled In Room Dining, put the phone on speaker phone and made him listen to the ringing at the other end with no response at all. On the day I was to check out, the geyser had a problem as a result of which the water supply in the toilet was reduced to a trickle and there was no hot water. The geyser problem had led to a power failure specific to my room which when reported to the reception (after three unsuccessful calls) got me the response that he would get back to me in a couple of minutes. After waiting for ten minutes I asked him again and he said there was a power failure (which later turned out to be a falsehood as the maintenance guy who finally turned up said there was power everywhere else except in my room). The power failure is frequent and there does not seem to be any SOP on stand by power; the restoration of power would take place in any time period from a few seconds to a few minutes. Or was it that there is no stand by at all and that one is expected to wait for the main power supply to revert? There would be a call every evening after I had dropped off to sleep (usually 2130 hours) to check if I was happy with Housekeeping and if my room had been cleaned that day. Any chance of feeling happy with Housekeeping diminished with the choice of timing for the disturbing call. I have stayed in seven other Sterling properties and got a Senior Citizens' discount; in Ooty Fern Hill the discount (or its denial) depended on the mood of the guy making the bill. There did not appear to be any consistency in the way the discount was applied (although a placard in the room declared it loudly and clearly). Although there were cane/ wicker tables/ chairs in the lawn outside the restaurant and that area was the best place to sit and enjoy a lunch and an excellent view simultaneously, there was reluctance on the part of the restaurant staff to serve there; the reason given was that insects might fall into our meals!!! I never saw any insect there! The service was rather slow even when there were just one or two tables occupied; there did not seem to be any reason for the delays. A veg sandwich took 30 minutes to be prepared at 1900 hours when there was no one else in the restaurant except on our table. There were some other minor issues which would, by themselves, have been ignorable but due to the issues detailed above, added to the overall pain over the period of our stay. I had been thinking of upgrading our membership but after this experience, I have changed my mind. As has been my experience with Sterling Holidays in the past, I don't expect any feedback on my complaint (and on my feedback form submitted at check out) and will be really surprised if there is any.

i have been to Ooty first time and i had great experience with the resort. They have made my first visit really good to keep it in my good books. All the staff members were very helpful to make sure all the visitors are taken care properly. The location of the resort is very beautiful and i could see great view of green lush hills from my window. I had a good view of train track which is one of the main attraction of ooty, just from my room window. Also the track is at walk-able distance in case you want to see and talk pictures from close. Taking about food, the restaurant was really good and its a treat to our taste buds. Travel desk is really good all kind of options available to enjoy the trip and they always help you in molding the plan as per you requirement. For making our stay memorable i give full credit to the resort and the staff members. thanks to you all. I recommend this resort to everyone.
